I am unable to install my ATI drivers for Windows ME! Despite the fact that the the video card is an ATI Radeon Xpress 200 series and the website that I downloaded the drivers for claims that it is compatible with both Windows ME and the ATI Radeon Xpress 200, I am unable to install the drivers.
Ati ixp 450 drivers windows 7
I only provided the link for the Power Management device as a reference. That link only references XP. I am not sure if ME has a driver for ACPI or where you would begin to find it other than a chipset driver. I am not sure the SB400 has drivers for ME.
latest VGA drivers for ATI Radeon 32, VE, 7000, 7200, 7500, 8500, 9000, 9100, 9200, 9250, 9500, 9550, 9600, 9700, 9800, X700 and Xpress 200 series with Beta software support for Radeon X300, X550, X600, X800 and X850 series
Recommendation: We highly recommend using a tool like DriverDoc [Download DriverDoc - Product by Solvusoft] if you are inexperienced in updating ATI Chipset device drivers. This Windows utility downloads, installs, and updates your Southbridge 200 (IXP400/SB400) drivers automatically, preventing you from installing the wrong driver for your OS.
In addition, DriverDoc not only ensures your Chipset drivers stay updated, but with a database of over 2,150,000 drivers (database updated daily), it keeps all of your other PC's drivers updated as well.
Error messages associated with Southbridge 200 (IXP400/SB400) might be caused by inefficient or outdated device drivers. Drivers will work one day, and for a variety of reasons, suddenly quit working the next day. There is hope for Chipset users because they can usually solve the problem by updating their device drivers.
Finding the exact driver for your Southbridge 200 (IXP400/SB400)-related hardware device can be extremely difficult, even directly on the ATI or related manufacturer's website. However, even if you are good at locating, installing, and upgrading drivers for the Southbridge 200 (IXP400/SB400), one can still waste lots of time and be very frustrated with this endeavor. Driver versions that are incorrect will cause more complications with your PC's performance, sometimes causing more damage.
To keep up with all of the essential new updates, we suggest going with a driver updater program. These updating applications allows you to maintain the latest version of the drivers you need and generates a backup of your current drivers before installing a new ones. Backing up your drivers provides you with the security of knowing that you can rollback any driver to a previous version if something goes wrong.
FreeBSD will take advantage of Physical Address Extensions (PAE)support on CPUs that support this feature. The default kernelsupports memory up to 24 gigabytes, but device drivers will usebounce buffers to access I/O buffers in memory above 4 gigabytes. Acustom kernel with the PAE feature enabled will avoidthe use of bounce buffers, but disables a few incompatible devicedrivers. This feature places constraints on other features ofFreeBSD which may be used; consult the pae(4) manual page for more details.
Where possible, the drivers applicable to each device or classof devices is listed. If the driver in question has a manual pagein the FreeBSD base distribution (most should), it is referencedhere. Information on specific models of supported devices, controllers, etc. can be found in the manual pages.
Note:The device lists in this document are being generated automaticallyfrom FreeBSD manual pages. This means that some devices, which aresupported by multiple drivers, may appear multiple times.
With all supported SCSI controllers, full support is providedfor SCSI-I, SCSI-II, and SCSI-III peripherals, including harddisks, optical disks, tape drives (including DAT, 8mm Exabyte,Mammoth, and DLT), medium changers, processor target devices andCD-ROM drives. WORM devices that support CD-ROM commands aresupported for read-only access by the CD-ROM drivers (such ascd(4) ). WORM/CD-R/CD-RW writing support is provided bycdrecord(1) , which is a part of the sysutils/cdrtools port inthe Ports Collection.
The freeze always happens around the same time, shortly before the windows desktop should appear. The dots under the user name stop spinning, the computer freezes completely and I have to restart manually. Sometimes after the next boot the AMD graphics driver is deactivated and reverted back to the Microsoft basic display driver. I then have to manually re-activate the "AMD Radeon graphics" device in the device manager, which suggests to me that the freeze may be related to the graphics driver. Usually the freeze does not leaves a trace in the event log, but very occasionally the freeze may generate a blue screen like this:
Seems to point to AMD drivers or the 5700G conflicting with Citrix, I noticed you have 'Card name: Citrix Indirect Display Adapter'. This could be part of the problem. Others have mentioned that Citrix can sometimes cause problems. Look further into it by searching on this board. Remove it temporarily if you can to see if that fixes it.
If it still happens after disabling Citrix, the next step would be to document all the settings for Citrix and uninstall it. Is it easy to configure again for your work? If so, try that. If for some reason you can't do that, other things to try are, did it begin doing this after a driver update? Uninstall the drivers, use AMD Cleanup Utility or DDU in safe mode and install some older AMD drivers. You already reinstalled Windows so it seems that should not be the problem. If you uninstall Citrix and you still see the problem it could be the hardware, maybe a bug in the 5700G, contact the manufacturer and AMD, but you already replaced a bunch of stuff. Maybe a bug in all 5700G? It's a difficult one!
As I have ruled out actual hardware defects by swapping practically everything (see 1st post) and as it has happened with multiple Windows installs and AMD drivers there are now only 2 things left I can think of as likely causes:
And see if the problem doesn't occur, I have had several problems that I didn't think were software related, and when I removed the program, the problems went away. Try to isolate the problem, it's difficult especially if you use those for work. Essentially whatever is causing it does it occur with just Windows and drivers installed? If no, then install each program and run for a while to see where the problem is. A strong point of Windows is the dearth of applications, but it causes problems too, freedom comes at a cost.
